Often referred to as one of the greatest and most influential directors Stanley Kubrick made his mark through innovative and deeply researched films. Kubrick was a perfectionist and had almost complete control over the filmmaking process, from writing to editing, which sometimes made him difficult to work with.
This lack of agreeableness is a common trait in people who have made groundbreaking strides that shaped our future. ‘2001: A Space Odyssey’ won Kubrick an Oscar for Best Visual Effects and while it would look archaic to us it was referred to by Steven Spielberg as his generation’s ‘big bang’.
Kubrick didn’t slow down after this and went on to make many films that received much acclaim even though they were controversial at first, most noteworthy of these being ‘A Clockwork Orange’.
