Plastic surgery has been around for centuries but Antonio Branca is considered to be one of the biggest contributors to modern plastic surgery. He staked his claim by introducing a new technique to successfully complete the now infamous, nose job.
Branca’s new technique for performing the surgery made use of skin grafting. He would trace a template on to the arm of the patient and then attach the skin to the nose while it was still attached to the arm. Without going into too much detail, he employed his technique for work on the lips and ears successfully as well.
Plastic surgery has far outgrown its humble utilitarian beginning and now serves a multitude of purposes transcending utility such as extending your acting career or becoming the human Ken Doll.
