In 1986 Lamborghini launched the LM002, a lavish 4×4 that set the bar for ensuing high-performance, luxury off-road vehicles.
Following a series of military-orientated prototypes, the LM002 carried the same four-valve 5.2-liter V12 used in the Lambo Countach Quattrovalvole. It produced 450 horsepower at 6800 rpm making it one of the most powerful vehicles sold at the time. It had a full leather cabin, weighed nearly three tons and had specially designed Pirelli Scorpion run-flat tires.
Despite being a capable rough-and-ready off-roader, it carried a range of luxuries – in so doing attracting both Sultans and movie stars alike. Sylvester Stallone famously owned an LM002, giving it its nickname, the “Rambo Lambo.”
