TED is a nonprofit media organization that was founded in 1984 by Richard Saul Wurman for the purpose of sharing ideas in the fields of Technology, Entertainment and Design (TED).
Chris Anderson took over in 2001, from where he significantly evolved the platform to its current size and reach – with over 100,000 videos available across 100-odd languages.
Anderson was born in a remote village in Pakistan to missionary parents. He attended boarding school in Bath, England and graduated from Oxford. He became a successful businessman through his interests in the PC revolution which ultimately led him to find ways to tackle global issues using his experience. This led him to acquire and grow the TED platform.
TED boasts over 11 billion views across with over 2,500 ideas shared and archived for viewing.
